Republicans rule
in Wyandot County

    Republicans won all county races in Wyandot County Nov. 6. And, as expected, the county went Republican in all the other races, with the exception of re-electing Democrat Ann K. Dunbar as Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas, who was unopposed.
    William J. Clinger defeated Clem Hoepf 5,943-3,784 in one commissioner's race; Ron Metzger beat Kenneth A. Beamer 5,772-3,691 in another, and the incumbent Republican Wyandot County Prosecutor, Jonathan K. Miller defeated Mary F. Snyder 5,536-4,075 in the contest for prosecutor.
     Unopposed county winners in Wyandot County included Dunbar, 7,310 votes; Michael R. Hetzel, sheriff, 8,489; Sandra M. Micheli, recorder, 7,844; Melissa F. Rife, treasurer, 7,856; Michael B. Kohl, county engineer, 7,619; Joseph G. Sberna, coroner, 7,754.
Mental health levy passes.
    The Mental health levy of .8 mill was renewed by a vote of 6,638-3,391. All renewal and replacement levies in the county passed and all additional levies were defeated, including a 1.5 -mill additional levy for Mohawk, which went down in the county 750-505.
    Renewal levies in Nevada, Marseilles and Ridge townships were renewed, as was a replacement levy in Richland Township. Additional levies in Wharton, Crane Township, and Tymochtee Township were defeated.
Vote for the winners.
    Wyandot County voters went with the winning candidate in Ohio's 86th House District, Upper Sandusky's Jeff McClain, 7,092-2,723; the 5th Congressional district, Bob Latta, and the state senator in the 26th district, Dave Burke.
Vote for the losers.
    Wyandot County voted for the losing candidate in both the presidential race and the Senate race. Wyandot County went for Mitt Romney over Barack Obama 6,054-3,962 and voted for Josh Mandel over Sherrod Brown, 5,929-3,603.
Side with state on issues.
    The county was on the winning side of both state issues, which went down to defeat. State Issue 1, dealing with the proposed constitutional convention, was defeated in Wyandot County 7,029-2,331. State Issue 2, dealing with the way congressional districts are drawn, got 6,913 no votes in the county and just 2,499 yes votes.
