five to St. Henry

Mohawk took the state's top ranked volleyball team to the fifth game in the state semi-final  match Nov. 11  before losing the final set 15-11.

St. Henry easily won the first game 25-9, but the Warriors regained their composure for he rest of the battle. Mohawk won the second game 25-23, lost the third 25-19, then forced the fifth and final set by winning the fourth game 25-12.

"We were pushed to the limit by a great team," St. Henry coach Diana Kramer told the Dayton Daily News.
The Warriors end the year with a 25-3 record while St. Henry, now 27-1, faces New Philadelphia Tuscarawas Valley for the Division IV state championship Saturday, Nov. 12, at 5 p.m. St. Henry is seeking its seventh state volleyball championship.

The Warriors defeated St. Paul in the Division VI regional final game at Elida Nov. 5 in five games. Mohawk won every other contest, taking the fifth and deciding contest 15-11. The Warriors won the first game 25-16, lost the second 25-17, won the third 25-20, then lost the fourth by the same score before winning the fifth game and the regional title.

Mohawk  advanced to the regional finals by beating Crestview in five games Oct. 27. The Warriors lost the first game 25-21, then came back to win the second game 25-23 and the third 25-15. After losing the fourth game 25-18, the Warriors claimed the match 15-10 in the fifth and final game.
